Prior to 2009, Wisconsin had the most generous capital gains tax exclusion in the nation. In 2009, the policy was changed and as a result, Wisconsin is now “only” among the nine states with the most generous exclusions. Some policymakers would like to repeal the recent change, a move that would overwhelmingly favor the wealthiest taxpayers. Read full WCCF publication.
