Wisconsin Government Spending, Number of Employees Below U.S. Average, Says New Report

One of the persistent themes among conservatives in Wisconsin is that government spending here is high and the state has too many public employees feeding at the trough.

But an analysis of newly released 2010 U.S. Census Bureau figures shows Wisconsin is pretty close to the national average for government spending -– even before the budget cuts and tax breaks to the wealthy in Gov. Scott Walker’s 2011-2013 budget.
