Working families filing their state income tax returns this year may get an unpleasant surprise. That’s because the Legislature made deep cuts to a tax credit that helps families with children get a leg up to the middle class. The result is that more than 140,000 working families in Wisconsin are getting less money back when they file their tax returns.
